We will finally have Social Security Fairness! It will be a long awaited reward to finally watch President Biden sign Fairness into law.
Our Social Security Fairness team will finally be relieved of the campaign we started in 2009. Since then, we all have lost millions of dollars to this ineptly written and unfair legislation. Thank you for sticking with your professional organizations and with us!
Four years ago, the Alliance for Retired Americans responded to their Connecticut President’s outrage when she learned of the WEP/GPO and called for support across the country. The Alliance got Social Security Fairness involved and we got CalRTA to lend its strength and organizational skills. A determined organizer from Chicago gathered a large Facebook contingent, and Zoom connected our frequent meetings of activists from across the country. Members added social media support and connections to various organizations. It took a village!
We called ourselves the National WEP/GPO Repeal Task Force. Our rallies and determination encouraged the Unions and retiree organizations who had been working on repeal for years. It all came together when Congress Members Graves and Spanberger pushed H.R. 82 through the House and took a direct route to the Senate.
Thank you all for years of support and for your dedication to Social Security Fairness!
