Tell Senators to Add Repeal to the Omnibus Bill!
The Senate Appropriations Committee (list below) needs to hear from us immediately with the request to add WEP/GPO REPEAL to the omnibus bill (please call or email day or night).
Senate Appropriations members know all about the WEP/GPO. The committee has some of our biggest supporters. Dianne Feinstein (CA) introduced the repeal bill for ten years in the early 2000’s. Susan Collins (ME) is the current original co-sponsor. John Kennedy (LA) and Bill Cassidy (LA) are from the hardest hit state. This year’s Senate repeal bill S.1302 has 42 co-sponsors. Let’s give them one last push! Remind them that we are still here.
It’s too late for detailed explanations. When you call/ write can say:
Please add WEP and GPO to the Omnibus bill.
The WEP and GPO are badly written legislation.
The WEP formula is WRONG.
Hitting people with WEP because of a pension earned in another country makes NO SENSE.
The GPO leaves half a million elderly women who have worked as teachers and public servants with NO SOCIAL SECURITY AT ALL. Even part of a public pension can leave them in poverty!

2. If you can, please also spend a few minutes on the phone calling the Senators on the Appropriations Committee whose legislative assistants are listed below, or by sending an email. If the Senator is not from your state, introduce yourself by saying: I am calling Senator_______ because s/he is a member of the Appropriations Committee.
