Urgent: Tell your Senator, “A Vote Against H.R.82 is a Vote Against Families!”
We are still waiting for a vote!
The WEP and GPO handicap public employees:
Police and firefighters who do extra jobs on days off to supplement their family income, are penalized when they retire.
Moms who become teachers later in life often do not qualify for their own Social Security and then usually lose ALL their earned spousal and often their survivor benefits, too.
The Government Pension Offset takes an average of more than $14,000 every year from elderly women. This is an untenable situation, forcing many to depend on public assistance.
The Windfall Elimination Provision uses an inaccurate formula.
The Government Pension Offset ignores a person’s years of actual marriage dependency.
Please stop enforcing this counter-productive, untenable legislation on public workers whose services we need!
Repeal will mean more money going to your state from the Social Security Trust Fund. An average of $4,928/yr each for those affected by the WEP and an average of $14,698/yr for those affected by the GPO!
Call your Senators tonight. Get the message to the Senators below who haven’t co-signed the bill:
