We have more than the 290-member super majority needed to demand action on our bill. We continue to add co-signers to strengthen our case.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In November, the chair of the Ways and Means Committee held a Field Hearing in heavily impacted Louisiana, where a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=APqlwWJjiec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teacher, firefighter, and government clerk described the financial losses<\/a> they are suffering in retirement because of the offsets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The sponsors of our repeal bill have asked the Ways and Means Committee for a mark-up of the bill, the next step before actually bringing the bill to a floor vote. We echo the sponsors\u2019 request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b\"]{font-style:normal;}.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b mark, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b\"] mark{font-style:normal;color:#f76a0c;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px;}<\/style>\n<h3 class=\"kt-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading5195_0c73cb-6b\"><strong>The Senate:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>We have 50 co-signers on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/597\/cosponsors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate bill S. 597<\/a>: 7 Republicans, 3 Independents, and 40 Democrats. A bill needs 60 votes to pass and getting the next 10 or more co-signers will be a challenge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 26 states, substantial numbers of public employees are affected by the offsets, and most of their Senators have already signed onto the repeal bill. Federal employees, including mail carriers, work in every state.
